The Burning Parrot Pub flashing neon sign

The Burning Parrot opens its doors this Thursday

Date: June 3, 2021

Location: Online

TIME: 8pm to 10pm

PUBS are where things happen. That’s where great minds meet, plot and get into action.

Train robbers at the Star Tavern, French Resistance leaders at the French House in Soho, Orwell and Constable at the Dog and Duck, Dickens at the Lamb and Flag, the Bloomsbury lot at the Lamb, Lenin and Stalin at the Crown Tavern in Clerkenwell, Keats, Shelley and Byron and highwaymen at the Spaniards

Continue this grand tradition in 2021 by meeting up virtually at The Burning Parrot, open online on Thursdays from 8pm to 10pm. Let’s talk about the End of the World and what to do about it.  We’ll get the first round, and then it’s yours. Don’t forget the crisps and peanuts. Here’s the password:

Produced by Chet Atkins
Release Date December 1962

Why does the sun go on shining?
Why does the sea rush to shore?
Don’t they know it’s the end of the world?
‘Cause you don’t love me any more

Why do the birds go on singing?
Why do the stars glow above?
Don’t they know it’s the end of the world?
It ended when I lost your love

I wake up in the morning and I wonder
Why everything’s the same as it was
I can’t understand, no, I can’t understand
How life goes on the way it does

Why does my heart go on beating?
Why do these eyes of mine cry?
Don’t they know it’s the end of the world?
It ended when you said goodbye

Why does my heart go on beating?
Why do these eyes of mine cry?
Don’t they know it’s the end of the world?
It ended when you said goodbye

“With the coming of the sixth mass extinction, many eyes in imprisoned Earth turned hopefully or desperately toward the revolutionary freedom of Citizens’ Assemblies.  Burning Pink’s Revolution became the great embarkation point. But not everybody could get to Burning Pink’s Revolution directly, and so a tortuous, roundabout refugee trail sprang up – environmental groups to extinction rebellion, across the land to Burning Pink, then by train, or bicycle, foot or internet across the spaces of the globe to the world beyond politics, to the Burning Parrot pub. Here, the fortunate ones through money, or influence, or luck, might obtain moral visas and scurry to join a local revolution or the Valerie 4 London Campaign; and from there, to a  New World.  But the others wait in the Burning Parrot…and wait…and wait….and wait.”
